What is the difference between a coating and a nano-superhydrophobic coating?

What is the difference between a coating and a nano -superhydrophobic coating ? Let's first understand what a coating is.

The coating is a solid continuous film obtained by applying the coating once, and is a thin layer of plastic coated on a substrate such as metal, fabric or plastic for protection, insulation, decoration and the like. The coating can be in a gaseous, liquid, or solid state, and the type and state of the coating is typically determined by the substrate to be sprayed.

Nano is a unit of length, formerly known as "nano", which is 10-9 (one billionth of a meter). Nanoscience and technology, sometimes referred to as nanotechnology, is the study of the properties and applications of materials ranging in size from 1 to 100 nanometers.
Nanomaterial refers to a general term for zero-dimensional, one-dimensional, two-dimensional, three-dimensional materials composed of ultrafine particles having a size of less than 100 nm (0.1-100 nm) and having a small size effect. The concept of nanomaterials was formed in the mid-1980s. Because nanomaterials exhibit specific properties of light, electricity, magnetism, heat, mechanics, and machinery, nanotechnology rapidly penetrates into various fields of materials and has become a hot spot in scientific research in the world.
Any conventional surface coating technology can be used or slightly modified to achieve nano-material composite coating. The addition of a nanophase to a high hardness, wear resistant coating further enhances the hardness and wear resistance of the coating and maintains high toughness.
Adding nanoparticles to the surface coating can achieve the effect of reducing the friction coefficient, forming a self-lubricating material, and even obtaining functions such as ultra-lubrication, dust-proof and self-cleaning. In some coatings, C60, bucky tube, etc. are compounded to prepare a super-lubricating new material. The introduction of nano-materials in the coating can significantly improve the high temperature and oxidation resistance of the material. For example, the deposition of nano-Ni-La203 coating on the surface of Ni prevents the short-circuit diffusion of nickel ions due to the action of nanoparticles, and improves the growth mechanism and mechanical properties of the oxide layer.
Nano-material coating can improve the corrosion protection ability of the substrate. This coating is also called anti-corrosion coating , which can achieve surface modification and decoration. Adding nanoparticles to paints or coatings can further improve its protective ability, resist atmospheric and ultraviolet rays, and achieve anti-degradation and anti-tarnishing effects. In addition, it can also be used in building materials such as sanitary ware, indoor space, appliances, etc. The nano- antibacterial material coating is used to produce sterilization and cleaning effects.
