What is the principle of self-cleaning of nano glass? Why is it called self-cleaning glass?
Edit:Shangmeng Technology Wuxi Co., Ltd.   UpDate:2017-11-23

Principle of self-cleaning glass: Self-cleaning super-hydrophilic glass film contains a photocatalytically active nanomaterial, which can absorb light of a certain wavelength, generate free electrons and holes, and oxidize pollutants sucked on the surface of the film. Reductive decomposition to remove and kill surface micro-bacteria, to achieve the purpose of self-cleaning, studies have shown that the removal of harmful pollutants such as organic matter and nitride in the air, the general indoor light can start the self-cleaning function; Hydrophilicity is attributed to the formation of the surface of the parental area. When the light is irradiated on the surface of the film, the energy absorbed by the bridge oxygen bond in the surface film is broken to form oxygen vacancies and low-valent metal ions, and the latter dissociates the chemically sucked water around the vacancy. The hydrophilic region is formed, and the other surface regions remain hydrophobic, and the water droplets are always larger than (several orders of magnitude) the hydrophilic or hydrophobic regions. Therefore, the surface of the membrane after the light is irradiated for a certain period of time is completely spread out. This situation is similar to the two-dimensional capillary phenomenon. Therefore, from the microscopic point, there are hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions on the surface of the membrane, and macroscopically, it is super-hydrophilic. The specific functional principle of the super-hydrophilic self-cleaning membrane is described as follows:
Photocatalytic activity
Dirt can be divided into organic dirt and inorganic dirt. There is a certain amount of organic matter floating in the air. These organic substances will gradually form organic dirt on the surface of the object. This kind of stain is difficult to wash away from the rain, and only the washing can be removed. The self-cleaning ultra-large hydrophilic membrane component contains a nano-semiconductor material with photocatalytic activity, and the sun absorbs a certain wavelength to generate carriers, so that the surface of the membrane adsorbs water and oxygen molecules to form hydroxyl radicals and active oxygen, which are very strong. The oxidizing ability can degrade the organic matter adsorbed on the surface into carbon dioxide and water, so that the glass has a self-cleaning function or becomes easy to scrub.
The anti-fogging ability of the self-cleaning super-hydrophilic membrane is also related to the photocatalytic activity. Under illumination, a part of the bridge oxygen bond on the surface of the oxide photocatalyst is opened, and the nearby adsorbed water is dissociated to form a hydroxyl group. These hydroxyl groups have good hydrophilicity. When the water contacts the membrane surface, it will completely wet and spread, forming a thin transparent water film layer, achieving the purpose of anti-fog. The self-cleaning super-hydrophilic film also has a good nano-hydrophilic substance, making the film more hydrophilic.
Why is self-cleaning glass: refers to the application of a special coating on the surface of the glass, so that dust or dirty liquid (including water, even oily liquid) is difficult to adhere to the surface of the glass, or easier to be water (or Rainwater) is washed away, so that the glass surface is very easy to keep clean, reducing the trouble of cleaning the glass surface, so it is called self-cleaning glass.

Glass self-cleaning technology has been very popular in developed countries. Almost all of the glass in the European and American markets must be dust-proof and self-cleaning . Therefore, with the development of cleaning technology, Shangmeng Technology is the leader in the field of nano-silver and other materials technology. "There has come to the country, bringing a new scientific development concept of environmental protection, health and safety to the glass self-cleaning production technology.
